Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. was founded in 1956, originally a research institute directly under the Ministry of Chemical Industry. In 1999, it was transformed into a municipal enterprise through localization, changing from a ministerial institution to a city-owned enterprise. It is now a state-owned enterprise supervised by the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
