SCUT Design Institute

The Architectural Design and Research Institute of South China University of Technology is a nationally renowned Class-A design and research institute with high design standards and comprehensive strength, enjoying a high reputation both domestically and internationally. In 2006, it was rated as the "National Excellent Survey and Design Institute" by the China Exploration and Design Association, and was named one of the "Top 10 Chinese Architectural Design Companies of 2007" by BCI Asia, a professional architectural media group in the Asia-Pacific region. Our institute consistently adheres to the quality policy of "Leveraging university advantages, cultivating a consciousness of excellence, creating outstanding designs, and providing sincere service," producing a number of excellent design projects with profound cultural heritage and high technological content, such as representative large-scale designs like the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall, the badminton hall, and the wrestling hall. Over the years, we have won more than 200 outstanding design awards at or above the ministerial level, including 6 national gold awards, 8 silver awards, 4 bronze awards, 1 international outstanding achievement award, and 2 top ten scientific and technological achievement awards. In recent years, we have gradually developed five major design brands: cultural and exhibition buildings, educational buildings, super high-rise buildings, sports buildings, and conference and exhibition buildings.
Our institute's director, Professor He Jingtang, is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a renowned architectural design master in China, and the inaugural recipient of the Liang Sicheng Architecture Award. He has not only designed a number of influential works domestically but has also made significant contributions to architectural theory. He has mentored a group of young designers with sharp thinking and solid skills, and has cultivated the institute's excellent ethos of continuous innovation, proactive advancement, and the pursuit of perfection.
