Introduction


Guangzhou Panyu District Health Management Center (formerly Guangzhou Panyu Sanatorium) is located in Dafu Mountain Forest Park, Panyu District, covering an area of 500 mu. With lush trees and fresh air, it is known as a natural oxygen bar, a place of outstanding people and abundant resources. Guangzhou Panyu District Health Management Center was established in 1959, originally named Guangzhou Panyu Sanatorium, and renamed to Guangzhou Panyu District Health Management Center in June 2020, also operating as Guangzhou Panyu District Rehabilitation Hospital. It is a public medical institution at the principal level. The center currently has 168 beds and 450 staff members. The Health Management Center is responsible for the construction of the health management service system in Panyu District, carrying out health management for all populations and throughout the life cycle, and coordinating the establishment of a regional health management consortium. Additionally, as the Panyu Rehabilitation Hospital, it guides the establishment and improvement of the three-level "rehabilitation assessment and treatment" system in the district, promotes the construction of a hierarchical diagnosis and treatment service system for rehabilitation medicine, provides high-level rehabilitation medical services, conducts rehabilitation research, teaching, and training, is responsible for the construction of the regional integrated medical and elderly care service system, and carries out integrated medical and elderly care and related supporting services.

After nearly 60 years of accumulation and development, the center has grown from a single convalescent business into a nationally renowned large comprehensive medical institution characterized by health examinations and health management, health care and convalescence, rehabilitation medicine, and chronic disease prevention and treatment. With specialties in health examinations and health management, neurological rehabilitation for stroke and hemiplegia, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, bone and joint rehabilitation, geriatric diseases, and chronic disease rehabilitation, it once created the "Panyu Care Model" nationwide. With the new mission of "helping a lifetime of health and cheering for a healthy China," the center fully leverages and integrates the advantages of its "three major resources": medical care, services, and the natural environment. With the innovative positioning of "comprehensive health and comprehensive rehabilitation," it creates an excellent new model of ecological health and rehabilitation integration and sharing.

In 2008, the center was designated as a "China Health Data Source Unit" and became a standing committee member unit of the China Health Industry Alliance and a vice-chairman unit of the Health Management Professional Committee of the Guangdong Medical Association. In 2009, it was awarded the first batch of "Health Management Demonstration Bases" by the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. In 2013, it received the honorary title of "Non-drug Weight Management Demonstration Base" awarded by the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the China Health Promotion Foundation. In 2018, it was recognized as a high-quality health management center in Guangdong Province. It is also the Cervical Disease Prevention and Control Sub-center of Guangdong Maternal and Child Health Hospital, a national collaborative unit for early gastric cancer screening, and currently serves as a standing committee member unit of the Convalescent Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medical Association and the executive vice-president unit of the Health Care and Convalescence Branch of the China Health Management Association.

The center has an independent health management venue of 5,500 square meters, conducting nearly 70,000 physical examinations annually. It has built an efficient, high-quality, and personalized health examination service brand, known as the people's "health gas station." It has cultivated a professional health management team, implementing "professional teams, standardized quality, specialized departments, and refined services," continuously improving the level of health examination services and expanding the connotation of health management services. Taking the informatization upgrade of health management as a breakthrough, it has achieved the transformation and upgrading from health examinations to health management services. Through various questionnaire surveys, it establishes physical examination health management files, designs "1+X" personalized examination packages according to clients' health needs, conducts post-examination health management, opens green channels for post-examination treatment, and provides online services such as viewing examination reports and consulting. It has opened high-standard personalized examination service areas, truly achieving customer satisfaction. Its professional technical ability and high-quality brand service capability are widely praised by the public.

Rehabilitation medicine focuses on specialties such as stroke hemiplegia, traumatic paralysis, spinal diseases, bone and joint conditions, wound rehabilitation, respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and the diagnosis and treatment of chronic and geriatric diseases. In particular, it has cultivated a large number of talents and accumulated rich experience in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, cervical and lumbar spine diseases, bone and joint rehabilitation, and the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. In 2013, it became a co-organizing unit of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, arranging more than 10 staff members to pursue further studies in Hong Kong, thereby improving the medical technical level of medical personnel. Our hospital clearly takes "comprehensive health, comprehensive rehabilitation," and "high-end medical elderly care" as innovative development ideas, planning and developing according to the structure of a tertiary rehabilitation hospital, improving the functional layout of rehabilitation medicine in the Panyu area, and building a three-level rehabilitation medical institution network. In 2016, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine was approved as a Panyu District specialty construction project. In May 2017, the Panyu District Health and Family Planning Bureau included the Panyu Sanatorium as the Panyu District Rehabilitation Hospital in the "13th Five-Year Plan" medical and health facility construction project, and positioned our hospital as the leading unit of the Panyu District rehabilitation medical consortium. Currently, the hospital is renovating its rehabilitation wards, and after completion in 2021, 100 new rehabilitation beds will be added. In the future, a tertiary rehabilitation hospital with 400 beds will be built.
