南宁轻工业工程院有限公司前身为中国轻工业南宁设计院，中国轻工业南宁设计院于2000年10月根据《国务院办公厅转发建设部等部门关于中央所属工程勘察设计单位体制改革实施方案的通知》（国办发〔2000〕71号）精神，从事业单位改为科技型企业；2004年3月中国轻工业南宁设计院根据中国海诚国际工程投资总院关于对南宁院更名的批复（中海投〔2004〕015号）更名为“南宁轻工业工程院”。2017年11月根据中海投[2017]7号文更名为“南宁轻工业工程院有限公司”，系中央驻桂企业,主要从事工程技术服务、国有资产运营管理（南宁、北海）、康养产业服务、离退休服务管理等职能。
