About the Company

China Youth Publishing Group was established in December 2003, formed by the merger of China Youth Publishing House (founded in January 1950, with its predecessors being Youth Publishing House and Kaiming Bookstore) and China Youth Magazine (first published in October 1923). It is directly under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, with Pi Jun serving as the current Party Committee Secretary and President. China Youth Publishing Group is a popular reading publisher primarily targeting young readers, adhering to the mission of "enlightening minds, disseminating knowledge, and serving the growth and development of youth." Its publication scope includes: youth work, youth fashion, motivation and self-cultivation, social sciences, culture and education, popular science knowledge, literature and art, computer art, biographies, legal readings, reference books, translated works, and electronic audio-visual products. The Group currently has the Youth Work Editorial Center, Literature Editorial Center, Thought and Culture Editorial Center, Culture and Education Editorial Center, Art Editorial Center, New Reading Editorial Center, Classic Recreation Editorial Center, Fashion and Lifestyle Editorial Center, Audio-Visual Electronic Editorial Center, Reading Campaign Office, China Youth Think Tank Forum Office, as well as China Youth Electronic Press, China Youth and Children Audio-Visual Press, China Youth Publishing House (UK) International Co., Ltd. (London Branch), and has holding and participating companies including Zhongqing Xiongshi Digital Media Technology Co., Ltd., Zhongqing Campus Pioneer Culture Co., Ltd., Zhongqing Yinghua Film and Television Culture Communication Co., Ltd., Beijing Zhongqingwen Culture Media Co., Ltd., Beijing Xiaozhong Yaji Culture Media Co., Ltd., and the joint venture Zhongqing Xueyan Education Technology Development Co., Ltd. China Youth Publishing Group has published a large number of high-quality, high-level books that are well-received by readers. Since the late 1950s, it has been renowned in Chinese literary circles for publishing outstanding full-length literary works such as "Red Crag," "Red Sun," "Red Flag Spectrum," "The History of Entrepreneurship," and "Li Zicheng." Since the reform and opening-up, the Group has published hundreds of books that have won awards in national book competitions, including "Popular Philosophy," "A Hundred Scenes of the Three Gorges," "A History of the Southern Ming," "White Gate Willows," "The Complete Biography of Mei Lanfang," "Revolutionary Baizhou," "Tibet's Nubile," "Roaming: Architectural Experience and Literary Imagination," "Letters of Faith: Talking about Ideals and Beliefs with Contemporary College Students," "They Knew I Came: China's First In-depth Care Notes for High-Risk Elderly," "The Way of Virtue," "A Brief History of Dunhuang Grottoes Art," "Ancient Simplicity: The Beauty of Ancient Architecture in Liang Sicheng's Works," "88 Key Words of Mao Zedong's Influence on China," "South of the South: Space, Geography, History and the Biennale," and "Homunculus: A Brief History of Interesting Biology." China Youth Publishing Group also publishes and distributes periodicals such as "China Youth," "Youth Digest," "Youth Digest: Color Edition," "Chinese Communist Youth League," "Youth Literature," "Huaxia Teachers," "Youth Vision," and "Rainbow." Among them, "China Youth" magazine is the official organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and is the earliest founded and longest-existing periodical in China; "Youth Digest" has a monthly circulation of 3 million copies, making it the youth periodical with the largest circulation in China. Since 1989, China Youth Publishing Group has continuously held the National Youth Patriotic Education Reading Campaign for 30 sessions, with over 600 million young people participating, exerting broad and far-reaching influence on young people across the country and achieving good social and economic benefits. Since the 1990s, China Youth Publishing Group has actively explored overseas business, participated in all internationally influential book fairs, established business contacts with dozens of foreign counterparts from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries, as well as dozens of large publishing houses in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and conducted active copyright trade. In March 2007, the Group also registered and established a London Branch in the United Kingdom, successively publishing cultural and art books such as "China," "Tibet," "Chinese Art Over 5,000 Years," "The Most Beautiful Classical Chinese Paintings," "Rare Treasure of Chinese Genre Paintings: Splendid Scenes of Suzhou," and "Four Seasons as Paintings: The Most Beautiful Flowers in Classical Chinese Painting," becoming a model in China's publishing industry of truly going from "going out" to "going in" in a commercial sense. It has received full recognition from higher authorities including the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee (State Council Information Office), the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Culture, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, as well as wide recognition from international first-class publishing houses. In 2009, China Youth Publishing House was rated as one of the "National Top 100 Book Publishing Units"; in 2011, it was rated as an "Advanced Unit for 'Going Global' in Press and Publication"; in 2012, it was rated as an "Advanced Unit for National Cultural System Reform"; in 2015, it was rated as a "Model Unit for Digital Publishing Transformation"; in successive national sample surveys of reading and purchasing tendencies, it has been repeatedly rated as the "Most Beloved Publisher by Readers." Currently, China Youth Publishing Group is fully promoting reform and innovation, further integrating resources and strengthening its strength, through transformation, upgrading, and dimensional elevation, aiming to build itself into a first-class domestic and internationally renowned cultural publishing institution in the near future.
