PetroChina Company Limited is a joint-stock company established on November 5, 1999, in accordance with the Company Law of the People's Republic of China during the restructuring process of China National Petroleum Corporation (now renamed as China National Petroleum Corporation Group, referred to as "CNPC Group" both before and after the change).
The Group is the dominant oil and gas producer and seller in China's oil and gas industry, one of the companies with the largest sales revenue in China, and one of the world's largest oil companies. The Group's main businesses include: exploration, development, production, transportation, and sales of crude oil and natural gas, as well as new energy businesses; refining of crude oil and petroleum products, production and sales of basic and derivative chemical products, other chemical products, and new material businesses; sales of refined oil products and non-oil products, as well as trading businesses; and natural gas transmission and sales businesses.
The Company's American Depositary Shares ("ADSs"), H shares, and A shares were listed on the New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE"), The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited ("HKEX"), and the Shanghai Stock Exchange on April 6, 2000, April 7, 2000, and November 5, 2007, respectively. The ADSs were delisted from the NYSE on September 8, 2022, Eastern Time.
