The Design Branch of China Petroleum (Xinjiang) Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd. was formerly the Xinjiang Design Institute of the Ministry of Petroleum Industry, established in 1958. It has undergone corporate evolution through the Design Division of Xinjiang Petroleum Administration, the Survey, Design and Research Institute of Xinjiang Petroleum Administration, Xinjiang Shidai Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd., and Xinjiang Oilfield Survey and Design Research Institute. In 2000, Karamay Petrochemical Design Institute was wholly merged into our company. In 2009, it was wholly transferred to China Petroleum Engineering Design Co., Ltd., and in 2016, it was wholly transferred to the restructured China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. Over more than 60 years, along with the development of CNPC's domestic and international oil and gas businesses and the construction of Karamay as a world-renowned petroleum city, our company has grown from a single oilfield design division into a comprehensive engineering company focusing on oil and gas field surface engineering design and construction. We have established two major bases centered in Karamay and Urumqi, with market coverage spanning major domestic oil and gas markets as well as international markets in Central Asia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, North America, and South America. We serve as the Xinjiang Oilfield Surface Engineering Technology Center, the CPE Overseas Surface Engineering Design Technology Center, and a postgraduate internship and teaching base for universities including China University of Petroleum, Xinjiang University, and Liaoning Petrochemical University. The company currently employs 834 people, including 719 in engineering management, professional technology, and scientific research; 285 registered national engineers of various types; 64 experts in professional fields within the industry; and 2 survey and design masters. We hold qualification certificates for engineering general contracting, engineering consulting, survey, and design across 21 Class A, 12 Class B, 9 major industries, and 27 professional categories, as well as a national comprehensive Class A qualification, and have passed certification for the quality, health, safety, and environmental management system. Our service areas cover conventional and unconventional oil and gas field surface construction, oil and gas storage and transportation, refining and chemical engineering, municipal public engineering, water treatment and environmental engineering, architectural design, thermal energy and power engineering, electrical engineering, and road and bridge construction. We possess comprehensive capabilities for undertaking domestic and international surface engineering general contracting (EPC), project management consulting (PMC), and the R&D and manufacturing of proprietary equipment. Over the years, our institute has cumulatively won 29 awards including national gold, silver, and bronze prizes for excellent engineering survey and design, 376 provincial and ministerial awards, and over 60 national patents. Our comprehensive strength has consistently ranked first in the Xinjiang survey and design industry, and we have been named a "District-level Best Civilized Unit," "National Model Collective of Professional Ethics for Workers," and "National Youth Civilization Unit."
