Shenzhen Xidi Technology Co., Ltd. (Seeed Studio) was founded in 2008, providing R&D and manufacturing support for hardware product innovators, and has currently obtained IDG Series A funding. The company has about 200 employees, covers an area of about 3,000 square meters, and is headquartered in Shenzhen. Together with more than 200 business partners worldwide, Xidi provides services to more than 2 million technology innovators, with 95% of customers located abroad, mainly in developed countries such as the United States, Europe, and Japan. In 2013, global sales were about 60 million RMB, ranking in the top three in the emerging open-source hardware industry.

Xidi was born for makers (hardware product innovators), helping various ideas grow into distinctive hardware products. Through close cooperation with various original manufacturers such as Intel, ARM, and MTK, Xidi provides technology in an open-source, modular, and agile manner to the general public, enabling makers to conveniently and quickly develop and trial-produce technology products. After the product prototype is ready, Xidi provides flexible, small-batch engineering and manufacturing services to help trial-produce samples, rapidly iterate to accelerate market launch, and actively connects with traditional large industrial enterprises for mass production. As a pioneer in promoting global maker culture, in order to enhance exchanges between Chinese and foreign makers and promote the development of China's maker culture, Xidi also established Shenzhen's first maker space, and through three years of effort turned the Shenzhen international Maker Faire into one of the world's seven largest.

Today's traditional industrialized mass-production model cannot well meet diverse needs, while makers, as bottom-up technology innovators, can complement and expand the large-industry model and promote faster connection between new technologies and new demands.
