Jiangxi Coal Mine Design Institute was founded in 1958. It holds six Class A qualifications issued by the state, including "coal industry design, architectural engineering design, engineering consulting, engineering survey, coal industry supervision, and housing construction supervision," as well as thirteen Class B qualifications, including "urban planning, municipal industry (road engineering, water supply engineering, drainage engineering, urban gas engineering, environmental sanitation engineering), landscape architecture, metallurgical mine engineering, building materials industry (non-metallic mineral and raw material preparation engineering), electric power industry (thermal power generation), surveying and mapping, mine engineering supervision, and geological disaster treatment," and two special qualifications for energy conservation assessment, as well as metrology accreditation certificates and special equipment (GB, GC pressure pipeline) design licenses. It is a comprehensive engineering consulting, survey, design, supervision, and general contracting unit. After more than fifty years of development, especially through continuous reform and innovation over the past decade or so, Jiangxi Coal Mine Design Institute now has more than 300 employees, over 85% of whom are engineering and technical personnel, including 22 professor-level senior engineers and 50 senior engineers and senior economists. It has more than 80 personnel holding state-issued certifications including Class 1 Registered Architect, Class 1 Registered Structural Engineer, Registered Mining Engineer, Registered Mineral Engineer, Registered Public Equipment (power, HVAC, water supply and drainage) Engineer, Registered Electrical Engineer, Registered Mechanical Engineer, Registered Environmental Protection Engineer, Registered Geotechnical Engineer, Registered Cost Engineer, Registered Planner, Registered Road Engineer, Registered Supervision Engineer, Registered Consulting Engineer, Registered Safety Engineer, Registered Safety Evaluation Engineer, and Registered Constructor. Jiangxi Coal Mine Design Institute has for many consecutive years been awarded honorary titles such as "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization" and "Advanced Unit in Spiritual Civilization" by the Working Committee of Provincial Government Agencies and the Jiangxi Provincial Committee for Spiritual Civilization. It has been awarded the title of "AAA Creditworthy Unit" by the China National Coal Association and "Advanced Creditworthy Unit in Geotechnical Engineering" by the China Exploration and Design Association. Since 1985, it has won 6 national excellent QC group awards, excellent software awards, and excellent engineering design awards, and 113 provincial and ministerial-level excellent achievement awards. In 2011, it passed the certification of the "three systems of quality, environment, and occupational health and safety."
