Beijing Sinovac Biotech Co., Ltd. is a high-tech biotechnology enterprise registered in 2001 in the Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone, Beijing, by Sinovac Biotech Ltd., a Nasdaq-listed company (China Sinovac), with a registered capital of RMB 141.21 million. The company is one of the first batch of innovative enterprises in the Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone, a key cultivated enterprise under Beijing's first batch of the "Ten-Hundred-Thousand" project and the "Beijing Biomedical Industry Leapfrog Development Project" (G20 Project), the Beijing Engineering Research Center for New Human Preventive Vaccines, and a Beijing Municipal Enterprise Technology Center.
With the mission of "providing vaccines to eliminate diseases for humanity," the company specializes in the research, development, production, and sales of human vaccines and related products, offering services for disease prevention and control in China and globally. Since its inception, the company launched the inactivated hepatitis A vaccine Healive®, filling a domestic gap, followed by the combined hepatitis A and B vaccine Bilive®, the pandemic influenza (H5N1) vaccine Panflu®, the first preservative-free split influenza vaccine Anflu®, and the H1N1 influenza vaccine Panflu.1®, as well as the Class 1 new biological product for prevention—the inactivated enterovirus type 71 vaccine Inlive®, a quadrivalent influenza vaccine, a 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPV23), and the Sabin strain inactivated poliovirus vaccine (sIPV). Additionally, the company has developed the world's first SARS inactivated vaccine (completed Phase I clinical trials). At the end of 2017, Healive® obtained World Health Organization (WHO) prequalification. In June 2022, the sIPV also received WHO prequalification.
From isolating the hepatitis A virus TZ84 strain to resolving the crystal structures of hepatitis A and EV71, and from fighting SARS to controlling H1N1 influenza and hand, foot, and mouth disease, Sinovac staff have always been committed to innovation, driven by the health needs of the Party, the country, and the people. Throughout this process, Sinovac has undertaken over 40 national and provincial/ministerial science and technology projects, including those under the National Key Technology R&D Program, the 863 Program, the National Major New Drug Creation Program, and the Major Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Program. It has won 4 national science and technology awards and 4 provincial/ministerial awards. To date, it has applied for 77 national invention patents, with 49 authorized. Research findings have been published in over 60 SCI-indexed papers, many of which appeared in international academic journals such as the
New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Nature, and Science.
The company mainly sells its vaccines in the Chinese market, while also continuously exploring international market opportunities. It has exported vaccines to dozens of countries and international organizations.
