Wuhan Orthopedic Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine is a directly affiliated hospital of Wuhan Sports University and the first public tertiary Grade-A orthopedic hospital of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in Hubei Province. It currently serves as a joint postgraduate training base for orthopedic traumatology of Hubei University of Chinese Medicine and a teaching hospital of Hubei University of Chinese Medicine. The hospital receives over 200,000 outpatient and emergency visits annually, with over 10,000 discharged patients and over 4,000 surgical operations (of which 86% are Grade III or above surgeries). The hospital has a total construction area of approximately 24,000 square meters and currently has 550 open beds, achieving a construction scale of "one main campus, one branch campus, two outpatient departments, two service stations, and two school hospitals." It is equipped with modern Class 100 laminar flow operating rooms, Class 100 laminar flow supply rooms, two 1.5T MRI scanners, two 64-slice CT scanners, color ultrasound, fully automated biochemical analyzers, digital X-ray examination systems, as well as advanced equipment including high-grade anesthesia machines, ventilators, laparoscopes and minimally invasive surgical instruments, arthroscopes, orthopedic 3D microscopes, intervertebral foramen endoscopes, ultrasonic bone scalpels, joint navigation systems, full carbon fiber operating tables, OEC-9900 mobile C-arms, and G-arms. The hospital has 650 on-duty employees, including 531 health professional technical personnel, 82 with senior titles (23 full senior and 59 associate senior), over 90 with master's, doctoral or above degrees, 8 named as Wuhan Young and Middle-aged Medical Backbone Talents, 8 master's supervisors, 1 doctoral supervisor, and over 30 appointed as adjunct professors of Hubei University of Chinese Medicine. The hospital currently has over 50 various scientific research projects, has won multiple Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards, holds 78 national patents, and has 25 medical monographs. The main campus has 11 inpatient wards, with clinical specialty disciplines including orthopedic traumatology, ophthalmology, internal medicine (geriatrics), emergency, otolaryngology, stomatology, surgery, gynecology, dermatology, anesthesiology, preventive healthcare, and acupuncture and rehabilitation. Orthopedic traumatology is the hospital's distinctive advantageous discipline, currently with 8 major wards including trauma orthopedics (bone setting), bone and joint surgery, spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, sports medicine, neck-shoulder-waist-leg pain, and orthopedic internal medicine, and nine sub-specialties including spine, joints, trauma, minimally invasive, bone disease, tendon injury, bone setting, sports medicine, and microsurgery orthopedics. It also has clinical auxiliary departments including pharmacy, clinical laboratory, radiology, MRI room, pathology, ultrasound, cardiac function examination, and gastroscopy. It has 2 Hubei Provincial Key Specialties of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (orthopedic traumatology, acupuncture and rehabilitation), and 2 Wuhan Municipal Key Specialties of Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture, geriatrics). In April 2022, the hospital completed its reform and transfer, becoming wholly affiliated with Wuhan Sports University as its affiliated hospital. At the same time, three five-year plans and the "14th Five-Year" development plan were established, continuing to take integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine as the development direction, adhering to the "strengthen specialties, refine comprehensive services" development path, upholding the "123458" development strategy, and developing the "one body, two wings" medical business development model.
