Jiangxi Aviation Vocational and Technical College

Jiangxi Aviation Vocational and Technical College originated from the staff education in the early days of the state-owned Plant 320 (Hongdu Machinery Factory) founded in 1951. Its predecessor was Nanchang 404 Spare-time Engineering College established in 1956. After several name changes, it was renamed "Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company Engineering College" (abbreviated as Nanfei Engineering College) in 1988. In 2004, with the approval of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, it was restructured into Jiangxi Aviation Vocational and Technical College. The growth of the college has accompanied the birth of New China's first aircraft and first coastal defense missile. It is a full-time ordinary higher vocational school with more than 70 years of red heritage, aviation characteristics and genes. Lu Xiaopeng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief designer of the Qiang-5 aircraft, and Shi Ping, chief designer of the K8 aircraft, successively served as vice president and honorary president of the college.
The college is among the first batch of pilot recruitment institutions for directional training of sergeants approved by the Ministry of Education, the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission, and the Mobilization Department; one of the first batch of national pilot institutions for "modern apprenticeship"; the "China Training Base" for the aircraft maintenance project of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security; a high-skilled talent training base; a national applied talent training project base; an aviation industry high-skilled talent training base; an aviation industry professional and technical personnel training base; the Jiangxi Province Aerospace Equipment Manufacturing Industry Industry-Education Integration Community; the Jiangxi Province Aircraft Manufacturing, Maintenance and Aviation Affairs Industry-Education Integration Public Training Base; and the Jiangxi Province Aviation Maintenance Talent Training Mode Innovation Experimental Zone. The college is also a national aviation "dual-qualified" teacher training base, the Ministry of Education UAV Collaborative Innovation Center, the Ministry of Education productive training base for the Aircraft Electromechanical Equipment Maintenance major and the Aircraft Manufacturing Technology major, and one of the first batch of Jiangxi Province education system craftsman colleges. It has been rated as an advanced unit in conscription work at the provincial, municipal, and district levels for many consecutive years.
After restructuring, the sponsor actively improved the college's operating conditions and strengthened the college's vocational skills training and social training skill improvement. It invested 5 billion yuan to build the Nanchang headquarters campus, Fuzhou campus, and Jianghang Nancheng Training Base (Fuzhou Nancheng Airport), forming a "trinity" development layout. Centering on the professional characteristics of "three aviation, one missile, and one nuclear" (aviation manufacturing, aviation maintenance, aviation services, missile maintenance, and nuclear protection technology), it has formed a professional pattern with distinctive aviation characteristics and coordinated development of multiple majors, offering 33 majors. The college attaches importance to improving vocational quality, technical skills, practical teaching, and internship training capacity, including the software and hardware construction of vocational skills internship and training platforms and the vocational ability assessment and development of supporting dual-qualified practical teachers, and has coordinated the planning and construction of 20 engineering training centers. The college currently has 944 full-time teachers, including 194 with senior professional titles, and dual-qualified teachers account for 60%. It implements a teaching staff construction model led by academicians, headed by famous teachers, taught by college teachers, operated by craftsman teachers, and participated in by overseas talents. Under the guidance of the expert committee of the society base, it establishes a multi-party participation mechanism for professional group construction and continuously consolidates its teaching staff.
