The first phase of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 1 starts from Gaoqiao Town in the west, runs eastward along the planned green belt between Wangchun Road and Houtang River as an elevated line, passes Lugang and Xujiacao, then turns underground to the west of Airport Road, continues eastward along Zhongshan West Road, passing the West Bus Station, Daqing Bridge, Ximenkou, Gulou, City Hall, and Tianyi Square. After crossing the Fenghua River, it runs eastward along Zhongshan East Road, passing Cherry Blossom Park and Century Avenue, then turns into Ningchuan Highway eastward, passing Haiyan Road and Shengmo Road to the East Outer Ring Road Station. The project line is 20.878 kilometers long, including 5.63 kilometers of elevated line, 15.32 kilometers of underground line, and 0.35 kilometers of transition section, with a total of 20 stations, including 5 elevated stations and 15 underground stations, with an average station spacing of 1,082 meters. The first phase of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 1 includes one vehicle depot comprehensive base and one parking lot. Among them, Tiantongzhuang vehicle base undertakes the factory and overhaul tasks for vehicles of Lines 1, 2, and 3, and together with Shilutou parking lot, it undertakes the parking, daily inspection, exterior cleaning, and disinfection tasks for assigned vehicles, as well as the periodic repair and monthly inspection tasks for assigned vehicles. Two main substations are set up at Wangchun Road and Cherry Blossom Park. The first phase of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 1 adopts a mixed operation mode of large and small routing. The engineering vehicles are selected as Type B vehicles, with 6-car formation in the initial, near-term, and long-term periods, 4 motor cars and 2 trailers, with a maximum operating speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The initial vehicle allocation is 23 trains (138 vehicles). The first phase of Ningbo Rail Transit Line 1 started full construction in June 2009, with a construction period of 5 years, and opened for trial operation by 2014.
