广西桂林冶金疗养院成立于1955 年，占地 235 亩，是隶属广西工业和信息化厅和广西柳州钢铁集团有限公司双重管理的直属事业单位。是广西工伤医保定点单位、桂林市城镇职工医保定点单位、广西职工疗休养基地等。
1998年，在转型发展中，创办了桂林夕阳红养老中心。在全国率先实行“医养”结合模式。
2014 年，广西柳州钢铁集团有限公司以桂林夕阳红养老中心为基础，注册成立桂林仙源健康产业有限公司。2017年，投资建设桂林仙源产业园，占地 72.1亩，建设6栋医养公寓，建筑面积 3.5 万平方米，床位1000张。
经过多年发展，先后荣获“全国医养结合示范机构”“*服务业标准化试点机构”“全国敬老文明号”“国标五级养老机构”“广西*批中医药特色医养结合示范基地”“桂林市国家安宁疗护试点机构”等*、区级、市级荣誉。组织编制三项广西养老服务地方标准：《疗养型养老机构服务规范》《养老机构候鸟式服务规范》《养老机构认知障碍症老年人照护服务规范》。
