Founded in 1971, Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group is one of the first batch of innovative enterprises designated by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Headquartered in Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, it now has over 18,000 employees, with subsidiaries distributed in Taizhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Suzhou, Changzhou, and other places. Its main products include both traditional Chinese and Western medicines, with expansion into biologics, medical devices, and the broader health industry. Some products are exported to over 40 countries and regions worldwide.

In 2021, it won the EFQM Global Award (formerly the "European Quality Award"), one of the world's top three quality awards.

Innovation drives the surging momentum of Yangtze River Pharmaceutical. The Group regards innovation as the strategic foundation for high-quality development, implementing a research and development strategy that promotes traditional Chinese medicine, chemical drugs, and biologics simultaneously, accelerating the cultivation of new quality productive forces in the pharmaceutical and health sector. It has established 4 national-level innovation platforms, owns 40 exclusive traditional Chinese medicine varieties. In 2021, its independently developed Class 1 innovative chemical drug, Levornidazole Disodium Phosphate for Injection, was approved for marketing. Cumulatively, over 170 generic drugs have passed or been deemed to pass the consistency evaluation for quality and efficacy. The Group has successively won 3 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 5 traditional Chinese medicine material quality standards it researched and drafted have been included in the European Pharmacopoeia.
