Dongfang Hope was founded in 1982 by Mr. Liu Yongxing, a renowned Chinese private entrepreneur, and is a private enterprise established after China's reform and opening up. It has now developed into an extra-large private enterprise group integrating agriculture and heavy chemical industry.

Dongfang Hope is headquartered in Pudong, Shanghai. It has more than 150 enterprises, 30,000 employees, and an annual output value of nearly 180 billion yuan.
