为深化上海燃气行业改革，适应城市能源结构调整，迎接“西气东输”天然气进沪，2000年8月9日，在市政府召开的上海市能源工作会议上，正式揭牌成立了上海天然气管网有限公司。公司由申能股份有限公司和上海燃气（集团）有限公司共同投资组建，注册资本金18亿元。

上海天然气管网有限公司负责统一投资、建设和管理上海天然气主干输气管网系统，主要包括1.6Mpa、2.5Mpa、4.0Mpa、6.0Mpa四级压力级制的长输管线750余公里、相应场站72座，以及储气设施、自动控制系统等输配气网络，负责落实“西气东输”、进口LNG、东海天然气、“川气东送”等各种气源的统一接收工作，供应上海地区各区域性燃气销售公司和工业、电厂等直供大用户，年供气约70亿立方米。

公司将积极融入新一轮燃气改革，以饱满的热情、严谨的态度、科学的管理、真诚的服务，有条不紊的开展各项工作，全力确保上海天然气安全平衡供应，继续完善“一张网”格局，开拓创新，再创辉煌。
