China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation

The China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation was established in March 1989 as a non-profit organization dedicated to poverty alleviation and relief. Over the past 20-plus years, the foundation has adhered to the concept of poverty alleviation and public welfare, implemented principles of high responsibility to donors and beneficiaries, adopted an open and transparent approach, promoted the spirit of hard work and volunteerism, and through rigorous internal management and outstanding performance, has received high praise from party and state leaders as well as all sectors of society. It has achieved remarkable results and rapid development, with increasing social visibility and a good public image widely recognized. It has now grown into a public welfare organization in the field of poverty alleviation in China. In 2007, in the national foundation rating evaluation organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the foundation was rated as a 5A-level foundation. By the end of 2012, it had cumulatively raised and invested 5.745 billion yuan in poverty alleviation funds and materials, benefitting 14.9617 million impoverished people and disaster victims. The China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation was established in 1989, registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and is a national-level poverty alleviation public welfare organization under the supervision of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development. It is one of the largest and most influential public welfare organizations in the field of poverty alleviation in China. With the support of all sectors of society, by the end of 2017, it had cumulatively raised 34.095 billion yuan in poverty alleviation funds and materials, benefitting 33.2807 million impoverished people and disaster-affected populations. Over the past 29 years, the foundation has gained widespread public recognition through good internal governance, project management, and social performance, with increasing social influence. In 2007 and 2013, it was rated as a 5A-level foundation in the national foundation rating evaluations organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. In September 2016, after the promulgation of the Charity Law, it was among the first batch of charitable organizations recognized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs as having public fundraising qualifications. In 2017, it was rated as the most publicly concerned foundation in the public welfare reading report released by Tsinghua University; and it ranked first on the China Foundation Brand List in the 2017 China Public Welfare Brand List released by Southern Weekly. The foundation's mission is to spread goodness and reduce poverty, achieve success for others, and make goodness more powerful; it takes continuously discovering and promoting the resolution of social problems as its responsibility, regards donors, volunteers, and all caring individuals as partners in solving social problems, and continuously reforms and innovates to build a trustworthy, expectable, and respectable international public welfare platform as its institutional vision.
