Wuhan University of Science and Technology

Wuhan University of Science and Technology is a local high-level university co-built by the Hubei Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Education, and six national super-large enterprises, and is a university under the national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China". The school's educational history traces back to the Craft School, which was established in 1898 upon the memorial to the Qing government by Zhang Zhidong, Governor-General of Huguang in the late Qing Dynasty. It has undergone inheritance and development through Hubei Secondary Industrial School, Hubei Class-A Industrial School, Hanyang Advanced Industrial Vocational School, Wuchang Advanced Industrial School, Central South Steel Industrial School, and Wuchang Steel Industrial School, and was formed as Wuhan Iron and Steel Institute in 1958, offering undergraduate education. In 1995, Wuhan Iron and Steel Institute, Wuhan College of Building Construction, and Wuhan Medical College of Metallurgy, then affiliated with the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, were merged to form Wuhan University of Metallurgical Science and Technology. In 1999, it was renamed Wuhan University of Science and Technology. The university aims to cultivate high-quality talents with innovative spirit and practical ability, adhering to the motto of "Virtue, Learning, Truth, and Practicality". It has a strong faculty team, with a group of renowned scholars and outstanding teachers. Its disciplines and programs cover eleven major disciplines, including engineering, science, management, medicine, literature, economics, law, philosophy, history, education, and art. It has outstanding scientific research achievements in fields such as iron and steel metallurgy and materials science and engineering, making important contributions to the development of China's iron and steel industry and local economic construction. The university actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation and has established cooperative relations with many internationally renowned universities.
