??????Hubei Provincial Third People's Hospital (Hubei Provincial Zhongshan Hospital) was founded in 1951, originally named Wuhan General Hospital. In June 2002, its management was transferred to the Hubei Provincial Department of Health and it was renamed Hubei Provincial Zhongshan Hospital. In October 2014, the Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission approved the change of the hospital's name to Hubei Provincial Third People's Hospital. The hospital is a government-run, non-profit medical institution owned by the people, and is also affiliated with 'Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Wuhan University School of Medicine'. It is a comprehensive large-scale tertiary Grade A hospital integrating medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, prevention, and rehabilitation. It is a designated hospital for medical insurance and commercial insurance, and a 'Designated Institution for Hubei Province Rehabilitation Assistance Projects'.
??????In September 2004, Dr. Sun Suifang, granddaughter of the great revolutionary forerunner Dr. Sun Yat-sen and President of the Honolulu Chinese Women's Charity Association, was appointed as Honorary President of the hospital. Neurology, Pain Management, Dermatology, and Medical Cosmetology are provincial-level key clinical specialties.
