Beijing Dongfanghong Aerospace Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was established in September 1997, completed its shareholding reform in 2009, and now has a registered capital of 81 million yuan. Its registered address is located in Jingwei Industrial Development Zone, Huairou, Beijing. It is a state-controlled company initiated by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), and is recognized as a "High-tech Enterprise" and "A-level Tax Credit Enterprise" by the state.

Since its inception, the company has been committed to utilizing the unique space environment, combining modern biotechnology, and applying aerospace medical achievements to research, develop, produce, and sell biological products. The company has successively undertaken national projects including the "863 Program: Research on Nutritional Food and Beverages for Astronauts," "Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND) Military-to-Civilian Transfer: Preparation of Selenium-enriched Red Yeast using Aerospace Technology," and the "CAST Civil Industrial R&D Project: Preparation of Coenzyme Q10 using Aerospace Biotechnology." In addition, the company has established close strategic cooperative relationships with the China Astronaut Research and Training Center and the Southern Institute of Space Technology, jointly promoting the full integration and development of aerospace technology and civilian technology.

Currently, Dongfanghong has built an aerospace bioproduct industrialization base in Huairou High-tech Development Zone, Beijing, with an annual output value of 300 million yuan. In July 2014, it invested 82.16 million yuan to complete the second phase of the aerospace bioproduct base—the Aerospace Biopharmaceutical Preparation Center. In the future, with the planning and construction of the Hebei Huailai Aerospace Industry Base, the industrialization development of Dongfanghong Aerospace Biotechnology will gain new growth drivers.
