Sunrise industry, stable career, serving national strategy!
In July 2014, the Chinese Academy of Sciences launched the "Take the Lead" initiative and classified reform, and the Shanghai Engineering Center for Microsatellites became one of the first five pilot innovation institutes. In October of the same year, with the approval of the CAS Party Group, the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was established. On August 22, 2017, the Chinese Academy of Sciences officially issued a document to establish the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. On September 26 of the same year, the academy was officially inaugurated.
The Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences currently has more than 600 research and management personnel, with 80% holding master's degrees or above, an average age of 31, and half of the employees having full mission development experience. It covers a working area of over 27,000 square meters, including mass property testing zones, mechanical testing zones, space environment testing zones, and satellite assembly plants, equipped with various modern testing equipment, capable of developing multiple types of satellites such as communications, remote sensing, navigation, micro-nano, and scientific experimentation satellites. As one of the overall units in China's microsatellite and related technology field, it has successfully launched 25 satellites, including the new generation BeiDou navigation satellites, the Dark Matter Particle Explorer, the Quantum Science Experiment Satellite, and the Tiangong-2 accompanying satellite, achieving a 100% success rate. It has become the main force in China's scientific satellite field and a significant force in the military-civilian satellite field.
The Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences adheres to the "Three Orientations" and has established: a new technology research center oriented towards the world's scientific and technological frontiers; three overall departments for communications satellites, remote sensing satellites, and scientific satellites oriented towards major national needs, along with four research institutes for satellite electronic technology, satellite control technology, satellite mechanical and thermal technology, and satellite software technology; and navigation satellite research institutes and micro-nano satellite research institutes oriented towards the main battlefield of the national economy. In addition, it has established three support centers: the Reliability Center, the Software Evaluation Center, and the AIT Center. The Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is committed to becoming an innovation engine for China's advanced satellite science and technology, a demonstration base for the transformation and industrialization of aerospace scientific and technological achievements, a bridge and bond closely connecting government, industry, academia, research, and application, and an open platform for international exchange and cooperation, providing strong support for national strategic needs and major scientific breakthroughs.
