成都体育学院为原国家体育总局直属的六所体育院校之一，现为四川省与国家体育总局共建院校。学校以本科教育为主，共有21个教学科研单位，现有22个本科专业，跨教育学、医学、文学、管理学、经济学、理学、艺术学、历史学等8大学科门类。学校具有体育学博士学位授权一级学科和体育学、临床医学、中西医结合、新闻传播学等4个硕士学位授权一级学科，有14个硕士学位授权二级学科，同时还拥有体育、中医、新闻与传播、艺术等4个硕士专业学位授权点。
