China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation, China National Biotec Group, Shanghai Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as "Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai") was founded in 1949. It is a large state-owned enterprise integrating research, development, production, and operation of biological products, serving human health and the improvement of national physical fitness. It is a master's degree granting unit in national biochemistry and molecular biology, and pathogenic biology, and a biotech high-tech enterprise gathering talents from home and abroad. It shoulders the important tasks of national planned immunization, prevention and control of infectious diseases, and improving national physical fitness and human health, making new contributions in major national projects such as fighting against A/H1N1 influenza and strengthened measles vaccination.
Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai currently has nine research laboratories, including molecular biology and monoclonal antibody technology, genetic engineering proteomics, bacterial polysaccharides, molecular virology, plasma proteins and their preparations, and a laboratory management center. Experts from home and abroad lead a team of thousands of scientific researchers dedicated to the research and development of new products. It has successively completed dozens of national scientific research tasks, including the "Seventh Five-Year Plan", "Eighth Five-Year Plan" projects, "863" and "973" key projects. It has achieved more than 100 scientific research results, of which more than 30 have won national science and technology progress awards from the National Science and Technology Commission, the Ministry of Health, or Shanghai Municipality.
The R&D building is an advanced R&D technology center with comprehensive categories for biological product research in China. It has a first-class blood preparation production line and a vaccine production building designed according to EU GMP standards. All production workshops have passed national GMP certification. Shanghai Shenghui Science and Technology Park is a technological innovation alliance integrating production, learning, and research. The Biological Building is a landmark for biopharmaceutical companies, including the top 500 enterprises.
Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai currently has 76 approved production approvals for various specifications, with product categories including blood products, preventive products, genetic engineering products, and various diagnostic reagents. Varicella, influenza, measles-mumps combined vaccine, and human serum albumin products have been awarded the titles of "Key New Product" by the state and Shanghai Municipality, and "Famous Quality Product" in Shanghai pharmaceutical industry. The "Shangsheng" brand won the title of "Shanghai Famous Trademark" from 2007 to 2009, enjoying a high reputation at home and abroad. New products such as measles-mumps-rubella triple vaccine and Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine will continue to enhance the influence of the "Shangsheng" brand. In the past 20 years, it has achieved more than 100 scientific and technological achievements, of which more than 30 have won national, ministerial, or provincial/municipal science and technology progress awards, 8 products have won the title of Shanghai New Product, and some projects have won first and second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
Over the past sixty years, Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai has maintained friendly exchanges with more than twenty countries and regions, including the United States, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Egypt, Brazil, and Cuba, conducting technical exchanges and trade cooperation. It has been rated as a high-tech enterprise in Shanghai for over ten consecutive years.
Currently, Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai has three production plants, research bases, and management office areas: the headquarters is located on Yan'an West Road, Changning District; the Hongqiao branch is located on Anshun Road, Changning District; and the Fengxian branch is located on Fengpao Highway. In addition to the above three plots, with the approval of China National Pharmaceutical Group and China National Biotec Group, there is also a biomedical industrialization base planned to be built in Fengxian Economic Development Zone, covering a total of 480 mu, which will be a platform for a new round of leapfrog development of Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai.
The investment in the Fengxian biomedical industrialization base project exceeds 4 billion yuan. It will be the largest biomedical base of China National Pharmaceutical Group and even China, which is of great significance for the long-term development of Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai. It will not only effectively solve the contradiction between production capacity constraints and market demand, and practically improve the core competitiveness of the enterprise, but also further enhance the industrialization capability in the field of biomedicine in China, bringing new opportunities and vitality to the development of China's biomedical industry.
In order to ensure that the Fengxian biomedical industry project truly highlights technological innovation and quality leadership, and achieves the goals and requirements of domestic first-class standards, Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai adheres to the concept of "Caring for Life, Guarding Health" of Sinopharm Group, and has specially formulated three major strategies for the 12th Five-Year Plan: taking the opportunity of the Fengxian "project construction" to build a new platform for the sustainable development of Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai; leading by "technological innovation" to promote the sustainable development of Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai; and with "quality leadership" as the core, ensuring and enhancing the market core competitiveness of Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai. Around the three major development strategies, Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai has initiated work such as restructuring, WHO prequalification, establishing and improving the quality management system (QMS), engineering management system (GEP), and expanding international cooperation, organically combining the construction of the Fengxian biomedical industry base project with the construction of the quality management system and WHO prequalification, promoting them simultaneously, striving to complete the new positioning of product structure, establish the international influence of the enterprise, and shape a new model for the industry.
The Fengxian project of Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai will be designed and constructed according to the latest 2010 version GMP and Chinese Pharmacopoeia, ensuring that influenza vaccines can pass WHO prequalification and blood products can go global. To this end, Sinopharm CNBG Shanghai will adopt the approach of "introducing advanced technology and strengthening basic training", introducing top foreign technology and international expert teams to ensure that the quality management system (QMS) meets the WHO prequalification requirements after the project is completed, making the Fengxian biomedical industrialization base a national first-class, internationally competitive high-tech industry base, making new and greater contributions to serving people's health!
