中医是中国传统文化的核心，中医经典是核心中的精华。本院秉着“传承和创新”精神，以“传承经典，道地药材”为宗旨，荟萃了全国各地的临床与科研专家，致力于经典着作和名家医派的学术思想梳理与传承、现代疑难疾病的临床研究、中药新药开发、中医文化挖掘与传播等工作。杭州经典中医研究院目前建有医学部、药学部、生命科学部和中医文化部、门诊部等机构。
