Zhejiang Provincial Water Conservancy and Hydropower Survey and Design Institute, founded in 1956, is a large professional survey and design unit integrating consulting, survey, design, scientific research, geotechnical engineering construction, engineering construction supervision, general engineering contracting, project agency construction, reservoir impoundment safety appraisal, construction drawing design review, and investment. It holds Class A qualifications for engineering consulting, engineering design, engineering survey (comprehensive), surveying and mapping, general engineering contracting, project agency construction, engineering cost, engineering supervision, water resources argumentation, hydrological and water resources investigation and evaluation, soil and water conservation plan compilation, soil and water conservation monitoring, soil and water conservation assessment, geological disaster control engineering investigation, and architectural design. Since its establishment, it has completed watershed (regional) planning for major river systems and plains in the province, including the Qiantang River, Oujiang River, Jiaojiang River, Yongjiang River, Cao'e River, Feiyun River, Aojiang River, Tiaoxi, and the Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou, Xiaoshan-Shaoxing-Ningbo, and Wenhuang Plains; provincial comprehensive water resources development and utilization planning; and flood control planning for important cities. It has completed environmental impact assessments for most water conservancy and hydropower projects in the province and many projects related to thermal power, construction, municipal public engineering, regional development, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries, and marine and coastal engineering. It has completed industrial and civil building design of over 10 million square meters. It has undertaken construction supervision for hundreds of water conservancy and hydropower, industrial and civil building projects, and has undertaken reinforcement construction and project agency and general contracting for many water conservancy projects, ports, and industrial and civil buildings.
