China North Industries Navigation and Control Technology Research Institute (formerly the General Systems Department of China North Industries, abbreviated as the Navigation and Control Institute), affiliated with China North Industries Group, traces its origins to the China North Industries Systems Engineering Research Institute founded in 1982. In 2010, upon approval by the Central Organization Establishment Commission, it was renamed "China North Industries Navigation and Control Technology Research Institute." It is a constituent unit of North Navigation Technology Group and a professional research institution for inertial navigation and guidance control technology in China. It also hosts the Fiber Optic Inertial Technology Engineering Center, the Information Security and Countermeasure Technology Center, and the Environmental and Reliability Comprehensive Laboratory.
The Navigation and Control Institute boasts a large number of highly educated technical talents, with over 70% of employees holding doctoral or master's degrees and nearly 80% holding senior or intermediate professional titles. Among them, 7 experts are appointed by the General Armament Department's professional groups, 6 receive special government allowances, 4 are technology leaders at the China North Industries Group level, and 3 serve as part-time doctoral supervisors. The institute primarily engages in the development and engineering of land-based inertial navigation and missile-borne inertial navigation systems, the engineering development of guidance rockets, pharmaceutical overall systems and control system components, the research and development of new technology products such as satellite navigation and unmanned platforms, and the research and development of quality engineering, reliability technology, and related products, all of which have reached advanced levels.
