China Railway Engineering Design Institute Co., Ltd.

China Railway Engineering Design Institute Co., Ltd. (formerly the Survey and Design Institute of the Factory Construction Bureau of the Ministry of Railways, and Beijing China Railway Construction Engineering Design Institute) was established in 1953 in the capital city of Beijing. It is a Grade A survey and design consulting unit that was early organized by the state for the construction of new China's railway industry. Currently, it is affiliated with China Railway Group Limited, a Fortune Global 500 company.

China Railway Engineering Design Institute has Grade A qualifications in the machinery industry (transportation equipment manufacturing engineering), construction industry (architectural engineering), municipal industry (rail transit engineering), comprehensive engineering survey, engineering consulting (machinery and construction), cost consulting, as well as Grade B qualifications in various other industries (specialties) including urban and rural planning compilation.

The institute currently employs over 500 staff members, including over 400 engineering and technical personnel, 6 professor-level senior engineers, 115 senior engineers, 86 engineers, 14 Class 1 registered architects, 30 Class 1 registered structural engineers, 25 registered engineers (public utilities, electrical, geotechnical), 13 registered consulting engineers (investment), 10 registered cost engineers, 5 registered supervision engineers, 2 Class 1 registered construction engineers, and 5 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council.

The institute specializes in survey, design, and consulting for railway industry, machinery industry, urban rail transit, and civil engineering projects. Particularly in the railway industry field, as the only design institute in the country engaged in survey, design, and consulting for railway rolling stock industry, it has undertaken almost all the survey, design, and consulting work for the new construction, expansion, renovation, technical upgrading, and restructuring of railway rolling stock manufacturing and maintenance factories across China, maintaining an absolute leading position in the field of railway rolling stock industry design. Over the past nearly 60 years, the institute has completed over a thousand various large and medium-sized industrial and civil engineering projects nationwide, spanning 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions within China and 21 countries overseas, making significant contributions to China's railway industry development, urban construction, and friendly international exchanges.

The institute has successively won dozens of national invention awards, national patents, provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards, excellent design awards, excellent consulting awards, and excellent standard design awards, as well as nearly a hundred provincial and ministerial level science and technology progress awards, excellent design awards, excellent survey awards, and excellent QC group activity achievement awards.

Scientific design methods, complete design procedures, strict quality control, and relentless management innovation constitute the foundation of the institute. In 1997, the institute passed ISO9001 quality system certification, and in 1998 obtained UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) quality system certification.
