Beijing Gehua CATV Network Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Gehua CATV") was established in September 1999 with the approval of the Beijing Municipal People's Government, authorized to be responsible for the construction, development, operation, and maintenance of the city's cable radio and television network, and to engage in the reception, transmission, and delivery of radio and television programs, video-on-demand, network information services, Internet access services based on the cable TV network, Internet data transmission value-added services, domestic IP telephony, and cable TV advertising design, production, and publication.
Gehua CATV was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2001 (stock code: 600037), becoming the first listed company in China's cable network industry, one of the first batch of pilot enterprises for triple-play integration in radio and television, the first batch of pilot units for cultural system reform in Beijing, and a high-tech enterprise in Beijing. It has been selected as one of the top 30 cultural enterprises nationwide for three consecutive sessions, and in 2012, it was rated as an advanced unit in the national cultural system reform by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and three other departments. Currently, the company has 26 departments, 15 branches, 8 wholly-owned subsidiaries, and over 3,000 employees. The company has established a modern corporate governance structure and management system characterized by "clear property rights, clear rights and responsibilities, separation of government and enterprise, and scientific management," and has been rated as a model corporate governance enterprise among Shanghai-listed companies for six consecutive years.
Gehua CATV has laid over 40,000 kilometers of optical cables and 240,000 kilometers of cables in Beijing. In addition to the main front-end equipment room, it has 15 first-level transmission equipment rooms, more than 200 second-level transmission equipment rooms, and thousands of community access equipment rooms. Its two-way network covers more than 4.5 million households, forming a super-large-scale information infrastructure network covering all 16 districts and counties of the city, capable of carrying video, voice, and data.
Gehua CATV actively promotes the development of cable television towards digitalization, two-way transmission, and high definition, committed to turning televisions into home multimedia information terminals and striving to make high-definition interactive digital TV a new media flagship integrating government information platforms, cultural sharing platforms, industry application platforms, convenience service platforms, and user entertainment platforms, to meet the growing spiritual, cultural, and information needs of the people. Currently, the network transmits 59 analog TV programs, 177 digital TV programs (including 27 high-definition TV programs), 18 digital radio programs, and various interactive digital TV application services, making it the cable TV network company with the most digital TV programs, high-definition TV programs, and retained analog TV channels in China.
Against the backdrop of "triple-play integration" and "Smart Beijing," Gehua CATV fully leverages the advantages of the cable TV network, actively develops video, data, voice, and other services through technological innovation, business model innovation, and service innovation, vigorously promotes high-definition interactive services, group data services, personal broadband, Gehua Feishi, IP telephony, and multi-screen convergence, and has become an important support platform for the capital's informatization construction and public cultural services. As of the end of 2015, the company had 5.68 million registered cable TV users (including 4.6 million high-definition interactive digital TV users), more than 27,000 lines of group data services, more than 415,000 personal broadband users, and more than 330,000 Gehua Feishi users.
