[Summary] Centennial Changyu, daring to lead
Yantai Changyu Group Co., Ltd., formerly known as "Changyu Winery Company," was founded in 1892 by Zhang Bishi, a renowned patriotic overseas Chinese industrialist of modern China, with an investment of 3 million taels of silver. It is the first enterprise in China to industrialize wine production.
In 1994, Changyu Company underwent standardized corporate restructuring in accordance with the "Company Law" and established Yantai Changyu Group Co., Ltd. In 1997 and 2000, Changyu B-shares and A-shares were successfully issued and listed respectively, making it the first listed company in the domestic industry to issue both A and B shares. In 2005, with strong support from Yantai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Changyu Company successfully completed its restructuring, introducing two foreign investors: Italy's Illva Saronno and the World Bank's International Finance Corporation, becoming a Sino-foreign joint venture with diversified equity. After restructuring, the new Changyu is market-oriented, innovative, and full of vitality.
Changyu Group has developed and built over 250,000 mu of high-quality grape planting bases in Yantai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Liaoning, Beijing, and other regions. Currently, Changyu has completed the strategic layout of eight domestic chateaus: Yantai Changyu-Castel Winery, Liaoning Changyu Golden Icewine Valley Winery, Beijing Changyu Afip Global Winery, Ningxia Changyu Moser XV Winery, Xinjiang Changyu Baron Balboa Winery, Shaanxi Changyu Rena Castle Winery, Yantai Changyu Dinlot Winery, and Yantai Changyu Coya Brandy Distillery; and five overseas chateaus: France's Grand Moulins de Paris (Fronrand?), France's Bordeaux Mihua Winery, Spain's Rioja Alion? (Duke of Rioja), Chile's Indomita? (Magic Lion Winery), and Australia's Kellet? (Cognac). Among them, high-end grape varieties represented by "Cabernet Gernischt" account for over 90%. More than 80% of the production equipment is imported from Europe and America, keeping pace with that of developed countries.
Changyu Group invested 2.5 billion RMB and took nearly five years to build a production center covering over 6,000 mu, with a building area of 270,000 square meters. It is the largest single production facility for wine and brandy in the world. After full completion and operation, the production center will have an annual output of 250,000 tons of wine and 150,000 tons of brandy, marking that China's industrial wine-making has reached the world's leading level.
Changyu Group owns the industry's top "National Enterprise Technology Center" and "Postdoctoral Scientific Research Workstation," and has introduced a number of excellent grape planting and winemaking experts from home and abroad, leading in winemaking technology and processes, reaching internationally advanced levels.
After 126 years of development, Changyu has become the largest wine enterprise in China and the fourth largest in the world. As Changyu promotes brand acquisitions and cooperation in high-quality production areas globally, it will continue to strengthen its domestic wine brands while increasing support for its international brands to enhance Changyu's global competitiveness.
