Beijing Boao Medical Laboratory Co., Ltd. is located in Yizhuang Biomedical Park, Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, and is a leading third-party independent medical testing institution. To better benefit the public through science and technology, Beijing Boao Medical Laboratory is based in Beijing and serves the whole country. It wholly owns Chengdu Boao Independent Medical Laboratory and Zhengzhou Boao Medical Laboratory, and plans to invest in a number of additional medical laboratories across the country, forming a nationwide group development model for third-party medical testing. It aims to create an exemplary translational medicine application service base for the country, promoting "diagnosis-guided treatment" and "diagnosis-promoted treatment," facilitating early warning, prevention, and personalized diagnosis and treatment of major diseases, thereby safeguarding public health. On September 17, 2013, the National Health and Family Planning Commission approved Beijing Boao Medical Laboratory, along with two other units supported by national engineering centers or key laboratories of the Ministry of Health, as pilot units for personalized medical testing. Under the guidance of the Personalized Medical Testing Technology Expert Committee of the Health and Family Planning Commission, they validate management measures and technical guidelines for personalized medical testing and provide recommendations; they also verify, evaluate, and conduct initial trials of personalized medical testing projects developed by their own laboratories. On June 16, 2014, the National Health and Family Planning Commission officially awarded licenses to the three personalized medical testing pilot units. In December 2014, the National Health and Family Planning Commission approved Beijing Boao Medical Laboratory as one of the first batch of pilot units for clinical application of high-throughput gene sequencing technology, which can simultaneously carry out genetic disease diagnosis, prenatal screening and diagnosis, and preimplantation embryonic genetic diagnosis. In March 2015, the National Health and Family Planning Commission approved Beijing Boao Medical Laboratory as one of the first batch of pilot units for clinical application of high-throughput gene sequencing technology for tumor diagnosis and treatment projects.
