Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Betta Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. is a high-tech pharmaceutical enterprise initiated by a team of high-level returned overseas talents, focusing on the research and development of innovative drugs with independent intellectual property rights, and integrating R&D, production, and marketing. On November 7, 2016, Betta Pharmaceuticals was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, stock code: 300558.SZ. The company currently has over 1,500 employees and has built a team of internationally advanced talents for the development and industrialization of innovative biological drugs, including dozens of overseas returnee doctors, among whom 3 have been selected for the National High-level Talent Program and 4 for the Zhejiang Provincial High-level Talent Program, with new drug R&D centers in both Beijing and Hangzhou. The company independently developed China's first small-molecule targeted anti-cancer drug, Icotinib Hydrochloride (trade name: Conmana®), which was approved for marketing in June 2011. Since its launch, it has been taken by over 300,000 lung cancer patients, and has won the China Patent Gold Award, the China Industrial Award, and the first National Science and Technology Progress First Prize in the chemical pharmaceutical industry and among Zhejiang enterprises. In November 2020, the company and its controlling subsidiary Xcovery jointly developed a new innovative drug with completely independent intellectual property rights, Ensartinib Hydrochloride Capsules (trade name: Benmeina®), which was officially approved for marketing, becoming China's first domestic Class 1 new drug for the treatment of ALK-mutated advanced non-small cell lung cancer, filling the domestic gap for similar drugs. The company continuously increases investment in new drug R&D targeting major diseases that seriously affect human health, such as malignant tumors and diabetes, with investments of 590 million yuan in 2018, 680 million yuan in 2019, and increasing to 740 million yuan in 2020, accounting for 39.7% of the company's revenue. Currently, there are over 30 innovative drug projects under research, with 18 entering clinical trials and 4 undergoing Phase III clinical trials, among which the global multi-center Phase III clinical trial of Ensartinib hydrochloride is advancing, promising to become the first lung cancer targeted innovative drug led by a Chinese enterprise for global marketing.
