CAS Guangzhou Chemistry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CAS Chemistry"), established in 2001, was formerly known as the Guangzhou Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is the only comprehensive chemical research and development institution in South China under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, focusing on applied research and high-tech innovation. In accordance with the overall strategy and layout of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Knowledge Innovation Program, the institute underwent a comprehensive restructuring and was transformed into a limited liability company directly controlled by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. CAS Chemistry is a large national high-tech enterprise integrating scientific research, postgraduate education, production and sales of green chemical and new material products, chemical product testing, and high-tech services for the chemical industry. It is a national intellectual property pilot unit and has two subsidiaries: CAS Guangzhou Huaguang Engineering Co., Ltd. (a national high-tech enterprise) and Guangzhou Zhongke Testing Technology Service Co., Ltd. It also has subordinate institutions in cities such as Foshan, Shaoguan, Zhanjiang, Shenzhen, Haikou, Jiaxing (Zhejiang), and Liuzhou (Guangxi). CAS Chemistry aims to enhance the technological innovation level of China's chemical industry, is committed to the large-scale industrialization of high-tech, and promotes the development of China's chemical industry. After decades of development, CAS Chemistry has formed four major business segments: chemical products, chemical grouting engineering, chemical product testing, and technical services. Through technology transfer and transformation, it promotes the development of China's chemical technology, and through recruiting and cultivating doctoral and master's students in chemistry, it cultivates high-end composite professionals for the country and chemical enterprises. CAS Chemistry has the following technology innovation and R&D platforms: Key Laboratory of Cellulose Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences; CAS Foshan R&D Center for Functional Polymer Materials and Fine Chemicals; Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Electronic Organic Polymer Materials; Guangdong Provincial Chemical Grouting Engineering Technology R&D Center; Guangzhou Electronic Information Polymer Industry Engineering Technology Research Center. CAS Chemistry was among the first batch of master's degree-granting units approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 1981, obtained the qualification to recruit doctoral students in 2001, and is a master's and doctoral training unit for the first-level discipline of chemistry nationwide.
