Yangzi-BASF Company

Yangzi Petrochemical was established in 1983, formerly known as the 300,000 tons/year ethylene project. It was a key national project during the "Sixth Five-Year Plan" and "Seventh Five-Year Plan" periods, and was one of the four major ethylene projects that were nationally introduced and constructed on a complete set basis at that time. Construction began in 1984, and full production was achieved in 1990. Over the past 40-plus years, the company has adhered to combining internal potential tapping with external development, self-development with joint ventures and cooperation, and industrial development with reform and innovation. It has successively implemented three rounds of large-scale technological transformation and has now become an important refining-chemical integration base for Sinopec.
The company's headquarters currently operates more than 60 large-scale petrochemical units, including 12.5 million tons/year refining, 800,000 tons/year ethylene, and 1.4 million tons/year aromatics, along with complete supporting utilities and storage and transportation logistics systems. It has 15 functional departments, 6 business centers, 9 production units, and 2 subsidiaries. It has established 5 joint ventures with internationally renowned companies such as BASF of Germany. It is an important domestic producer of refined oil products, basic chemical raw materials, and synthetic materials. As of the end of 2023, the company's total assets exceeded 40 billion yuan, with a total workforce of 8,215 people. It has provided 264 million tons of commodities to society and generated over 185 billion yuan in profits and taxes, making significant contributions to national and local economic and social development.
