Chongqing Nexteer Steering Systems Co., Ltd., a joint venture established by the US-based Nexteer Automotive Group and China South Industries Group's subsidiary Construction Industry Group, will settle in the Degan Industrial Park in Jiangjin, Chongqing. Leveraging Nexteer's advanced Electric Power Steering (EPS) technology and the local advantages of Construction Industry Group, the joint venture will be dedicated to producing column-type Electric Power Steering systems and intermediate shaft products to better provide services and support to domestic and international vehicle manufacturers (such as Changan Automobile, General Motors, etc.). The two parties officially registered and established Chongqing Nexteer Steering Systems Co., Ltd. on January 22, 2014, each contributing 50% of the capital, with a total investment exceeding 300 million RMB. The plant will be custom-designed according to Nexteer's global standards, with Phase I planned to cover 8,000 square meters, expected to achieve an annual production of 1 million sets of Electric Power Steering systems (EPS) and annual sales of 1.8 billion RMB.
