Wuhan Youth Myopia Prevention and Control (Prevention and Control) Center

Wuhan Youth Myopia Prevention and Control Center (hereinafter referred to as Wuhan Myopia Prevention) is a professional technical service institution established by the Wuhan Municipal Government to innovate mechanisms for the prevention and control of student myopia. It undertakes the technical guidance and technical services for student myopia prevention and control citywide, and also undertakes the technical guidance work for student myopia prevention and control provincewide. Wuhan Myopia Prevention has nearly one hundred professional technical and management personnel with multidisciplinary experts and vision health management. Through more than ten years of research and practice, it has built a vision health management service model and system for student myopia prevention and control, developed "intelligent monitoring equipment and digital student vision health management system", formulated the country's first group standard "Technical Service Specifications for Primary and Secondary School Student Vision Health Management", providing referable experience and models for student myopia prevention and control nationwide, and its student myopia prevention and control work is at the forefront of the country. The Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee and central leaders fully affirmed it, instructing "Wuhan's experience is good, and it should be vigorously promoted!". In order to control student myopia from the source and meet the needs of the broad masses of students for vision health management services, Wuhan Myopia Prevention provides all students with full-cycle, whole-process, and all-round basic public and special technical management services for vision health, helping the broad masses of students effectively achieve the goals of "not being myopic, delayed myopia, slow myopia, and low myopia" at minimal cost. It has established service bases for student myopia prevention and control vision health management at the Municipal Youth Palace and Qiaokou, and in 2023, approved by the East Lake High-tech Development Zone, it co-built with the District Education Bureau a "Wuhan Myopia Prevention Optics Valley Student Vision Health Management Service Center" of more than 3,000 square meters, creating a national demonstration base for student myopia prevention and control services.
