China Taiping Insurance Group Co., Ltd., abbreviated as "China Taiping", was founded in Shanghai in 1929. It is the ethnic insurance brand with the longest continuous operation in China's history and the only centrally administered financial enterprise with its management headquarters overseas. China Taiping originated from three major ethnic brands: Taiping Insurance, China Insurance, and Minan Insurance. In 1956, according to the unified national arrangement, China Insurance and Taiping Insurance ceased domestic operations and specialized in Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas insurance business. In 2012, it was placed under central management and upgraded to a vice-ministerial-level central financial enterprise. In 2013, it completed restructuring and overall listing, and was officially renamed China Taiping Insurance Group Co., Ltd. China Taiping carries forward its red heritage and ethnic roots, is based in Hong Kong, operates across borders, and serves the world. In recent years, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, China Taiping has developed rapidly and has been listed in the Fortune Global 500 for four consecutive years, ranking 344th. In 2020, China Taiping's total premium exceeded 200 billion yuan, operating revenue was 244.6 billion yuan, total assets were 981.8 billion yuan, and assets under management exceeded 1.77 trillion yuan. It has become a large multinational financial and insurance group with more than 500,000 internal and external staff, 24 subsidiaries, and more than 2,000 operating institutions at all levels. Its business scope covers mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Europe, Oceania, East Asia, and Southeast Asia and other countries and regions.
