Guangdong Nanyue Bank was established in January 1998, originally known as Zhanjiang City Commercial Bank. In September 2011, it was approved by the China Banking Regulatory Commission to change its name to Guangdong Nanyue Bank. After more than 20 years of practice, it has developed into a city commercial bank with strong market competitiveness and brand influence. Since 2017, it has been ranked among the Global Top 500 Banks published by the UK magazine The Banker for five consecutive years, with assets exceeding 200 billion yuan.
In 2021, it ranked 432nd in the latest edition, 425th in July 2020, 360th in January 2019, and 437th in the list in 2018. At the end of 2021, Guangdong Nanyue Bank had a registered capital of 19.377 billion yuan, ranking 6th among city commercial banks nationwide. Its controlling shareholder, Guangdong Yuecai Investment Holding Co., Ltd., is a large financial holding enterprise directly under the Guangdong Provincial Government. It has formed a comprehensive financial service system led by trust wealth management, asset management, financing guarantees, and fund investment, covering commercial banking, financial leasing, cross-border finance, financial technology, and integrated industrial operations. As of the end of 2021, its managed assets reached 713 billion yuan, with 17 wholly-owned and controlled financial and quasi-financial enterprises, and it has obtained AAA-level entity credit rating for six consecutive years.
