Beijing Qingshang Group

Beijing Qingshang Architectural Design and Research Institute is a Class A architectural design and engineering enterprise controlled by Tsinghua University. Its predecessor was the Qinghua Gongmei Environmental Art Design Institute, which held Class A qualifications for interior design of construction projects. As early as the 1950s, the senior designers of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts took the lead in establishing the architectural decoration design specialty in China. Famous designers such as Xi Xiaopeng, Pan Changhou, Luo Wuyi, and He Zhenqiang led students to participate in the design of ten major buildings including the Great Hall of the People, the Museum of History, the Cultural Palace of Nationalities, and the Beijing Exhibition Center. To integrate teaching with practice, in April 1988, the Environmental Art Research and Design Institute of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts was established, and in the same year, it obtained the first batch of 'Class A special qualification for interior design of construction projects' issued by the Ministry of Construction. This design institution, founded by renowned architects and educators, focusing on architectural design, interior design, and environmental art design, played an important role in promoting the integration of production, education, and research in higher education institutions, undertaking social projects, and cultivating talents. In November 1999, the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts merged into Tsinghua University, and the 'Environmental Art Research and Design Institute of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts' was renamed 'Qinghua Gongmei Environmental Art Design Institute'. In December 2005, under the guidance of Tsinghua University's industrial development policies, through restructuring and reorganization of the design institute, absorbing new capital and expanding its business scope, 'Beijing Qingshang Environmental Art Architectural Design Institute' was established. A modern enterprise that had achieved outstanding results, possessed professional design talents in various fields, and inherited Tsinghua University's artistic heritage came into being. Currently, Beijing Qingshang Architectural Design and Research Institute consists of seven professional design institutes, four research institutes, and over a dozen professional design studios. In 2014, its business revenue exceeded 300 million yuan, and its comprehensive design strength ranked among the top three in the industry. In recent years, it has completed design projects such as the Central Military Commission office building, the National Art Museum of China, the new capital museum, the Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Hall, the Tibet Natural Science and Technology Museum, Beijing Yansha Friendship Shopping City, and various Wanda commercial spaces in multiple cities, winning numerous national and provincial awards. These achievements have earned industry acclaim and accumulated rich experience in office buildings, shopping malls, museums, theaters, educational institutions, and environmental landscape design. Beijing Qingshang Architectural Design and Research Institute values extensive international cooperation and has successfully collaborated with the Paris Creative Design Group (France), SOM International Architectural Consulting Co., Ltd. (USA), NBBJ Architectural Consulting Co., Ltd. (USA), and Marshall Design Company (Australia). Relying on Tsinghua University's research strength, Beijing Qingshang Architectural Design and Research Institute has conducted extensive and in-depth research in environmental protection, acoustics, lighting, and artistic design, and has obtained over ten design patents.
