Tongwei Solar deeply engages in the research and development, manufacturing, and promotion of core products for solar power generation. The company has become a leading enterprise in the global photovoltaic industry, known for advanced process technology and production equipment, high levels of automation and intelligence, and large-scale production of crystalline silicon solar cells. It currently operates four bases in Hefei, Shuangliu, Meishan, and Jintang, along with the Tonghe project, employing over 12,000 staff and boasting an existing production capacity of 45GW. By 2023, Tongwei Solar aims to achieve a capacity of 80-100GW, with an output value exceeding 80 billion yuan.
The Hefei base, which commenced production on November 18, 2013, is located in the Hefei High-tech Zone, Anhui Province. It encompasses two major production and operation modules: cells and modules. The cell project primarily produces monocrystalline silicon wafers with a capacity of 4GW, fully adopting back-passivation technology and focusing on an unmanned intelligent manufacturing route for high-efficiency monocrystalline cells. The construction of intelligent factories and digital workshops further enhances the company's profitability and market competitiveness, solidifying its leading position in the high-efficiency crystalline silicon cell industry.
To enhance the competitiveness of the industry chain, Tongwei established a high-efficiency module R&D project department in December 2016, gradually embarking on the development of shingled module technology, committed to developing and promoting shingled technology to create distinctive Tongwei shingled module products. Starting in 2017, Tongwei began mass production of shingled modules. After several generations of technological accumulation and development, the current shingled module capacity is among the top globally, with an annual module production capacity of 7.1GW. Tongwei's high-efficiency shingled modules cover power ranges of 430W+, 550W+, and 660W+, widely applicable to residential rooftops, commercial and industrial distributed generation, and large-scale ground-mounted power stations. The company continues to lead the industry in high-efficiency module technology, building a global demonstration base for high-efficiency shingled manufacturing. Currently, the project under construction is an 8GW smart factory with a total investment of 3.06 billion yuan, of which fixed asset investment is 1.38 billion yuan. The total production capacity will reach 7.8GW, bringing the module capacity to 14.9GW. Upon completion, the estimated total output value is 16.8 billion yuan. Assuming all products are sold domestically, the estimated VAT contribution is 210 million yuan, and corporate income tax is estimated at 40 million yuan, totaling 250 million yuan in taxes, which can create employment for over 1,520 people.
