Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) is one of the world's *** petrochemical companies, holding a * position in the manufacturing of polyethylene, polypropylene and other high-end thermoplastic products, ethylene glycol, methanol and fertilizers.

In 2013, SABIC's net profit reached 25.3 billion riyals (US$6.7 billion), with total sales revenue of 189 billion riyals (US$50.4 billion). By the end of 2013, SABIC's total assets reached 339.1 billion riyals (US$90.4 billion).

SABIC was founded in 1976 and is headquartered in Riyadh. The Saudi Arabian government owns 70% of the company, with the remaining 30% held by private investors from Saudi Arabia and other member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

About SABIC Greater China
Since entering China in the 1980s, China has become a key driver and core of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC)'s Asian corporate growth strategy and continued investment. Currently, SABIC has established 18 offices and employs 1,300 people in Greater China, located in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Xiamen, Tianjin, Hong Kong and Taipei.

SABIC has three engineering plastics compounding production bases in Shanghai, Guangzhou (Nansha) and Chongqing (completed and put into operation in 2014). Meanwhile, SABIC and China Petrochemical Corporation jointly established Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (SSTPC) in Tianjin.

At the end of 2013, the SABIC Shanghai R&D Center, embodying top-level technology, was officially inaugurated and opened, with an initial investment of US$100 million. The R&D center is committed to developing next-generation innovative technologies and providing solutions for customers in China and the region facing urgent issues.
