Wuhan University of Technology Digital Communication Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Ligong Shuchuan) is a high-tech company focused on Internet+ publishing. Founded in 2014, it is headquartered in Wuhan, with branches in Beijing, Chongqing, and other places, and has nearly 200 employees. The company was jointly funded by Wuhan University of Technology Industry Group Co., Ltd., Changjiang Publishing & Media Co., Ltd., Publishing House of Electronics Industry, China Cartographic Publishing House, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, and the core technical team of the Digital Communication Engineering Research Center of Wuhan University of Technology, and has now completed three rounds of financing totaling 240 million yuan.
The company creatively developed a domestic first-class media cloud platform—the RAYS system. By printing QR codes on paper books and periodicals, and matching online derivative content resources and services in the QR codes, it guides readers to pay by scanning the codes to enjoy in-depth reading content or other value-added services during the process of reading paper books and periodicals. At the same time, the RAYS system can quickly capture reader data and analyze reader preferences after readers scan the codes, helping publishing units continue to provide readers with precise knowledge and services, forming a new consumption model.
The RAYS system helps authors/editors obtain additional income; generates real-time interaction with readers, enhancing reader stickiness; obtains reader data, accurately understands reader preferences, and feeds back into content production.
It helps the news and publishing industry build a brand-new publishing integration ecosystem; creates a digital content profit model with content providers as the main commercial value; changes the way users acquire and disseminate knowledge; and leads the direction of China's news and publishing Internet+ transformation, integration, upgrading, and industrial development.
Up to now, the total number of books (periodicals, newspapers) launched has reached 533 million copies, the total number of readers has exceeded 13 million, and it has created 260 million yuan in additional revenue for the news and publishing industry.
In recent years, the company has received key attention and support from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
To fully implement the "13th Five-Year Plan for Cultural Industry Development of Wuhan" issued by the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and promote the integrated development of Wuhan's cultural undertakings and cultural industry, Ligong Shuchuan, as a leading enterprise and construction entity, will cooperate with the Wuchang District Government of Wuhan to jointly build the "China Digital Publishing Enterprise Headquarters Base" project. The project plans to invest 3 billion yuan. By building a leading news and publishing big data industrial park, a digital media enterprise headquarters cluster, a digital media talent innovation center, and a source of digital publishing IP, it will ultimately be built into a world-leading digital publishing base, drive a market scale of 100 billion yuan, promote Wuhan's deep integration and large-scale expansion in cloud computing, big data, and the digital publishing industry chain, shape urban landmarks, improve the overall level of Wuhan's cultural development, and become a powerful booster for Wuhan's march toward a culturally strong city.
