Zhongjian Road and Bridge Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Zhongjian Road & Bridge") is a directly affiliated company of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), a Fortune Global 500 enterprise (ranked 37th in 2015). It was established through a strategic restructuring of Hebei Road and Bridge Group Co., Ltd. by CSCEC, China State Construction Traffic Construction Group Co., Ltd., and the People's Government of Hebei Province. It is an important cooperation achievement between CSCEC and Hebei Province to promote the integrated transportation construction of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and boost local economic development under the national strategy of "coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei".
Previously known as Hebei Road and Bridge Group Co., Ltd., founded in 1950, Zhongjian Road & Bridge is one of the first enterprises in China and the first in Hebei Province to hold the special-grade qualification for general contracting of highway engineering construction. It also possesses 11 qualifications including Level 1 general contracting for municipal public works, Level 2 general contracting for housing construction, Level 1 professional contracting for bridge engineering, and Level 1 professional contracting for tunnel engineering. During the War of Liberation, the predecessors of Zhongjian Road & Bridge participated in the construction of the three red roads used by Chairman Mao and the Central Committee of the CPC to "take the examination to Beijing": from Yan'an to Fuping, from Fuping to Xibaipo, and from Xibaipo to Beijing. These roads made significant contributions to the great strategic transfer of the CPC Central Committee and the founding of New China.
For over 60 years, Zhongjian Road & Bridge has participated in the construction of hundreds of national and provincial highways, including the Jingshi Expressway and the Jingjintang Expressway, making outstanding contributions to the formation of Hebei Province's road network framework and the development of expressways, boosting the economic development of North China. It has been praised by Hebei provincial leaders as "pioneers in bridge construction and vanguards in road building" and has received more than 20 national and provincial-level honors. Meanwhile, as a national foreign aid construction unit, since 1976, it has embarked on overseas projects, successively participating in the construction of multiple key national foreign aid projects such as National Road No. 2 in Madagascar, the Kigem Road in Rwanda, the Cagayan Valley Road in the Philippines, and the Kalat Road in the Philippines. It has established overseas offices in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste, deepening its presence in the overseas market. With outstanding professional performance and dedication, Zhongjian Road & Bridge personnel have won several honors awarded by foreign clients, including the Presidential Knight Medal of Madagascar.
After the restructuring, as a directly affiliated company of CSCEC, its management has been integrated into the management system of CSCEC. As a strategic development vanguard of CSCEC in the infrastructure field primarily focusing on highways and bridges, Zhongjian Road & Bridge continues to leverage its leading advantages in expressway construction technology. With the integration and injection of the central enterprise's capital, market, talent, and management resources, and with strong local resource support and industry management advantages from Hebei Province, it has participated in the investment, construction, and operation of several national and provincial key expressway projects such as the Taihang Mountain Expressway and Qugang Expressway through emerging business models like PPP.
