Tsinghua Pearl River Delta Research Institute

On October 18, 2015, the People's Government of Guangdong Province and Tsinghua University signed an agreement to jointly establish the Tsinghua Pearl River Delta Research Institute, marking the official establishment of the institute. The institute is a public institution co-built by the province and the university, operated and managed in an enterprise-oriented manner, and implements a director responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors.
The institute adheres to Tsinghua's motto of "Self-discipline and Social Commitment," deeply participates in the implementation of the national innovation-driven development strategy, promotes the transformation and upgrading of Guangdong's industrial structure, cultivates and develops strategic emerging industries, and supports the construction of Tsinghua University. Based in Guangzhou and radiating to the Pearl River Delta, it vigorously carries out technological innovation, cultivates and gathers high-end talents, and develops high-tech industries.
With institutional and mechanism innovation as its core, the institute builds six functional sections: scientific research and development, enterprise incubation, venture capital, talent cultivation, innovation parks, and international cooperation, establishing a "scientific and technological innovation incubation system with deep integration of industry, academia, and research."
Within five years, it strives to bring in more than 1,000 innovative and entrepreneurial talents, build more than 10 high-end R&D platforms, incubate more than 300 enterprises, and achieve a cumulative output value of over 10 billion yuan from these enterprises within five years.
The institute is committed to becoming a benchmark for new-type research institutions in the country, forming an internationally integrated innovation and incubation cluster with deep integration of industry, academia, research, and capital, creating a highland for gathering innovative and entrepreneurial talents, and a base for clustering strategic emerging industries and future industries.
