Guangzhou National Laboratory

Guangzhou Laboratory was officially established in May 2021, with its scientific research and clinical campuses located on Guangzhou International Bio Island and Datansha Island respectively. It is a new type of scientific research institution in the field of respiratory diseases and their prevention and control. As an important part of the national strategic scientific and technological strength, the laboratory adheres to facing the world's scientific and technological frontiers, the main economic battlefield, the country's major needs, and the people's life and health, and strives to solve key core scientific and technological problems in the field of respiratory diseases and their prevention and control. It establishes a comprehensive innovation research platform and facility cluster that combines peacetime and wartime needs, builds key scientific and technological strength for the prevention, early warning, and control of respiratory diseases, and aims to become a large-scale comprehensive research base and original innovation source with global influence, integrating breakthrough, leading, and platform functions. Guangzhou Laboratory explores and practices the advantages of the nationwide system, follows the layout of "core + bases + networks", unites and gathers the national superior scientific research forces, establishes a "cross-disciplinary, large-scale collaborative, high-intensity" system, and carries out key core technology research. Recently, it has produced multiple major achievements, including the 1.1-class anti-tumor innovative drug PTS, the first domestically produced field emission transmission electron microscope, the COVID-19 drug Leritrelvir tablets, the COVID-19 recombinant protein vaccine V-01, and the ultra-fast PCR amplification instrument, responding to national strategic needs and safeguarding people's health.
