Chongqing Meiqi Industrial Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is located in the Huixing Industrial Park, Yubei District, Chongqing—an advanced town in environmental protection and sanitation—beside National Highway 210 and an expressway, about 2 km from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. It is a medium-to-large key enterprise in Yubei District, covering an area of over 40 mu, with more than 32,000 square meters of factory buildings and over 5,000 square meters of staff dormitories, more than 300 sets of various complete processing equipment, fixed assets of over 60 million yuan, and more than 700 employees. The current chairman and general manager is Zhang Xinmei. The company began in 1992 as a handicraft workshop run by more than a dozen workers led by Ms. Zhang Xinmei, mainly producing motorcycle gearshift arms. After several years of hard work, in July 1995 it was officially registered as Chongqing Meiqi Motorcycle Parts Co., Ltd., registered in Renhe Xinpaifang, with its own factory buildings; registered capital of 500,000 yuan; its products also expanded from the original single motorcycle gearshift arm to motorcycle starter levers and variable-speed pedals, three products in total, with an annual output of ten thousand sets, mainly sold to motorcycle mainframe manufacturers such as Zongshen, Loncin, and Lifan, making an indelible contribution to the development of the motorcycle market at that time. Through the joint efforts of all colleagues and the baptism of more than ten years of market storms, the company gradually grew and expanded, and the original production site could no longer meet the needs of production development. In 2002, the company acquired about 30 mu of land in Huixing, Yubei District, Chongqing. In January 2003, the company moved from Renhe Xinpaifang to No. 2 Baosheng East Road, Huixing, Yubei District. At the same time, in order to better develop other projects, the company changed its name to Chongqing Meiqi Industrial Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and increased its capital to 3 million yuan. That year, on the basis of the original motorcycle parts (gearshift arms, starter levers, variable-speed pedals), the business scope added general engine parts—general engine fuel tanks and connecting rods, and production capacity also increased to 6 million sets/year for gearshift arms, 1.5 million sets/year each for starter levers and pedals, 1.2 million fuel tanks/year, and 1.8 million sets/year. Sales manufacturers also expanded from the original single Chongqing market motorcycle mainframe manufacturers such as Zongshen, Loncin, and Lifan to more than twenty motorcycle mainframe manufacturers including Japan's Sundiro Honda, Wuyang Honda, Qianjiang, Jialing, Yinxiang, Wangjiang, Maifeng, Huansong, and Ruitong. With the continuous development and growth of the company's various products, Meiqi's reputation also became renowned nationwide and, along with the products of Honda and other motorcycle mainframe manufacturers, was exported overseas. In 2005, with abundant human, financial, and material resources, Chairwoman Zhang Xinmei seized the opportunity of the national construction of a new countryside and decisively invested in a new project—cultivators. Cultivators are small tillage machines suitable for flatlands, mountains, hills, terraced fields, and other areas. They can meet the needs of a broad range of users for various tillage projects such as dry land, paddy fields, tea gardens, orchards, flowers, and vegetable greenhouses, and can complete operations such as intertillage, weeding, ditching, ridging, earthing up, and bed making. In 2007, with the continuous expansion of cultivator production capacity and the influence of market factors, the company decided after study to abandon the two products of motorcycle starter levers and pedals and expand cultivator production capacity. After the decision was made, the company successively increased investment in all aspects of cultivator research and development, production, and sales.
