Shanghai Zhenrentang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., founded in 1979, is one of the earliest manufacturers of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction pieces in Shanghai. For over 40 years, it has been dedicated to the research, development, production, and service of TCM, continuously improving its technological innovation management model and the collaborative system of industry, academia, research, and application.
In June 2014, through resource integration, it became a subsidiary of Jointown Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (stock code 600998). In December 2015, the company was renamed Shanghai Zhenrentang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. In March 2016, a branch of Shanghai Zhenrentang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was established, specializing in TCM series products and related extension services. In March 2019, the Shanghai Branch of Jiuxin Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute was formally established, creating a diversified production platform integrating drug research and development, food production, and extended health services. Over the years, in collaboration with the group, it has possessed 6 national-level research centers, formulated standard projects, and obtained 43 invention patents, 11 utility model patents, and 12 software copyrights. It has also successfully developed 1 national basic drug and medical insurance oncology product.
The company holds a self-inspection declaration enterprise registration and a Shanghai Wildlife and Product Utilization License. It is a council member of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a Shanghai Contract-Abiding and Credit-Worthy Enterprise, a Jiading District Enterprise Technology Center, and a Jiading District Little Giant Enterprise. In 2019, it was recognized as a strategic emerging and innovative leading enterprise of Anting Town. It is currently applying for High-Tech Enterprise status and has received honors such as Jointown TCM Excellent Production Company and Jiuxin Craftsmanship Award. With sustained and stable cooperation and strategic development with many national top 100 commercial chains, national medical institutions, major domestic proprietary Chinese medicine companies, and internet hospitals, its sales reached 210 million yuan in 2019, with an average annual growth rate exceeding 30%.
Zhenrentang-branded Chuanbei powder, Sanqi powder, ginseng, American ginseng, and Dendrobium officinale have been repeatedly rated as high-quality TCM decoction pieces by the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and as famous and superior products in Shanghai's TCM industry.
Currently, the factory covers an area of 25 mu, with a total building area of about 15,800 square meters. It has established a production and inspection center, a warehousing center, a standard decoction center, and a food production center. The warehouse is equipped with temperature and humidity monitoring, five-prevention facilities, and complete equipment to meet the storage requirements for different categories of materials and finished products. The quality inspection laboratory is equipped with large precision instruments, including 7 Agilent high-performance liquid chromatographs, 1 Agilent gas chromatograph, 1 Agilent atomic absorption spectrophotometer, 2 tandem quadrupole mass spectrometers, and more than 40 other main inspection equipment sets. It also has a microbiological testing room, capable of meeting full-item inspection requirements for the managed varieties.
The company currently has a total of over 200 employees, with professional and technical personnel accounting for 48%. It has a sound quality management system organization, adheres to the concepts of quality risk management and traceability, and has established a 9S safety shield guarantee system to fully build a reassuring TCM brand. It strictly manages in accordance with GMP, GSP, SC, and other regulatory requirements to ensure product safety, stability, and efficacy.
