Guangdong Province Communications Planning & Design Institute Co., Ltd. was formerly the Survey and Design Team of the Highway Division of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Communications, founded in 1952, transferred to Guangdong Provincial Communications Group Co., Ltd. in 2000, restructured into Guangdong Highway Survey, Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd. in November 2007, changed to a joint-stock company in December 2010, and renamed Guangdong Province Communications Planning & Design Institute Co., Ltd. in August 2015. It is mainly engaged in planning, consulting, survey, design, supervision, inspection and monitoring, construction drawing review, and repair and reinforcement construction for the highway industry, municipal industry (roads, bridges, urban tunnels, water supply and drainage engineering), building industry, and landscape architecture. It holds nationally issued Class A comprehensive engineering survey, Class A highway industry design, Class A municipal industry design (drainage engineering, road engineering, bridge engineering, urban tunnel engineering), Class A architectural engineering design, Class A highway engineering supervision, Class A engineering consulting, Class A engineering bidding agency, Class A comprehensive highway engineering testing and inspection, Class A special highway engineering bridge and tunnel testing and inspection, Class B landscape architecture design, and Class I municipal infrastructure (water supply, drainage, roads, bridges, tunnels) construction drawing review qualifications, four-star soil and water conservation preparation, as well as qualifications for geological hazard risk assessment, geological hazard treatment engineering survey, geological hazard treatment engineering design, and special professional engineering contracting (structural reinforcement). Since 2008, it has been approved as a national high-tech enterprise and has passed quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management system certifications. The company has a technical team with complete specialties, excellent quality, and superb skills. It currently has more than 1,300 employees, including about 700 with intermediate and senior technical titles or above. Since its establishment, the company has undertaken and completed the survey and design tasks for most national and provincial highways and expressways in Guangdong Province, as well as a large number of extra-large bridges and extra-large tunnels, and the planning of regional highway networks and stations. It has successively won more than 300 awards (times) for excellent survey and design, scientific and technological progress, etc. at the international, national, and provincial (ministerial) levels. Its comprehensive strength and modernization level of survey and design rank among the top of domestic peers. Among them, Luoxi Bridge won the National Gold Award for Excellent Design, the first China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award, and the first China Top Ten Bridges honor; Xinhui Yamen Bridge won the 6th Zhan Tianyou Civil Engineering Award and the National Excellent Engineering Survey and Design Bronze Award; the Yu-Zhan National Highway Trunk Line Gaoqiao (Guangdong-Guangxi border) to Suixi Expressway won the 9th China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award; Guangwu Expressway won the 13th China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award and the National Highway Transportation Excellent Design First Prize; Panyu Bridge won the National Engineering Construction Quality Silver Award and the Highway Transportation Excellent Design Second Prize; Haixinsha Bridge won the National Excellent Engineering Survey and Design Bronze Award and the Guangdong Province Excellent Engineering Design First Prize; Jiepu Expressway, the Guangning to Huaiji section of the Huaiji to Sanshui section of the Er (Lianhaote) Guang (zhou) Highway, the Xiebiao to Sanbao section reconstruction and expansion project of the Shenyang to Haikou National Expressway, and the Guangdong Province Xinyi (Guangxi-Guangdong border) to Maoming Highway project won the National Highway Transportation Excellent Design First Prize; Shanfen Expressway, Guangfo Expressway expansion project, Gaozan Bridge, Nan'erhuan Ganzhuxi Bridge, Shenhai National Expressway Suixi to Xuwen section, the Jiangmen to Zhaoqing Expressway of the Outer Ring Road of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, the Shuijianshan-Shigu extra-long tunnel group of the Boluo to Shenzhen section of the Yuexiang Expressway, the Donghua Bridge project of the Jiangmen urban area double line of Provincial Road S272 Zhaozhu Line, and the Meixian Sanjiao to Dabu Sanhe section of the Meizhou Meixian to Dabu Expressway won the Guangdong Province Excellent Engineering Design First Prize; the survey of the Shenhai National Expressway Suixi to Xuwen section and the geological survey of the Jiexi Daxi to Boluo Shiba section of the Shantou to Zhanjiang Expressway won the National Excellent Engineering Survey and Design Industry Engineering Survey First Prize; the Beidou to Qingtan section of the Shanmei Expressway, the Shaoguan Qujiang to Nanxiong Expressway, the engineering survey of the Jiangmen to Zhaoqing section of the Outer Ring Road of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, and the comprehensive survey of the Gaoyao Xiaoxiang to Fengkai Jiangkou section of the Guangfozhao Expressway won the Guangdong Province Excellent Engineering Survey First Prize; the feasibility study report of the Xiebiao to Sanbao section reconstruction and expansion project of the Fokai Expressway won the National Excellent Engineering Consulting Achievement Second Prize; the research project "Key Technology Research on Expressway Reconstruction and Expansion in the Pearl River Delta Region" won the Special Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Highway and Transportation Society. The Southwest Branch is a directly affiliated branch of the Group.
