China University of Geosciences Press was founded in February 1985. It is an academic press supervised by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by China University of Geosciences. Located in the China Optics Valley · Wuhan East Lake National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, on the shore of East Lake and at the foot of Nanwang Mountain, it has a nearly 2,000-square-meter independent office building and book warehouse, with convenient transportation, beautiful scenery, and an elegant environment.
In order to meet the needs of the development of vocational education in China and better serve the discipline construction, education, and teaching of secondary and higher vocational schools, in March 2005, China University of Geosciences Press established the Vocational Education Branch of China University of Geosciences Press, integrating textbook development, teacher training, and new media education to serve vocational education.
After nearly ten years of development, the Vocational Education Branch has successfully developed a number of influential textbook platforms in the field of secondary vocational education, including the "Building Construction Major" series of textbooks, the "Engineering Cost Major" series of textbooks, the "Building Decoration Major" series of textbooks, the students' "Non-Professional Ability Cultivation" series of textbooks, and the "Preschool Education Major" series of textbooks. It has also jointly published the "Computer Major" series of books. Among them, the "Building Construction Major" series of textbooks and the "Non-Professional Ability Cultivation" series of textbooks have received widespread praise in China. 70% of secondary vocational schools with building-related majors nationwide use the complete set of curriculum system textbooks organized and published by our press, and more than 100 vocational colleges and schools use the students' "Non-Professional Ability Cultivation" series of textbooks to train students. Our press is also the first publisher in China to carry out the construction of "project-based teaching" for building-related majors in secondary vocational schools and the curriculum construction and textbook publication and distribution of students' "Non-Professional Ability Cultivation." Among them, the "Architectural Engineering Major" series of textbooks and the students' "Non-Professional Ability Cultivation" series of textbooks achieved remarkable success, winning the second prize for outstanding textbooks of university presses in 2011-2012, and caused a huge response in major vocational schools across the country.
In order to better serve the construction of professional curricula in schools, our press actively invites experts to guide related work and organizes relevant professional schools nationwide to jointly build an academic exchange platform. The "Architectural Engineering Major Teaching Research Association" and the "Non-Professional Ability Cultivation Teaching Research Association," initiated and established by our press, have successfully held multiple seminars themed on curriculum construction, teaching research, and textbook development. As the secretariat unit of the "Teaching Management Research Association of the Teaching Work Committee of the Chinese Vocational Education Association," the "Vocational Education Architectural Engineering Major Teaching Research Association," and the "Student Non-Professional Ability Cultivation" Teaching Research Association, it has played an important role in promoting vocational education teaching research, academic exchanges, teacher training, curriculum construction, and textbook development.
In the future, our press will ride the east wind of the country's vigorous development of vocational education, seize development opportunities, continue to actively participate in the education and teaching work of vocational education, conscientiously do a good job in serving the curriculum construction and textbook construction of vocational education, and give full play to our press's role in the construction of a vocational education teaching research platform.
