The Second Research Institute of Civil Aviation Administration of China

The Second Research Institute of CAAC, located in Chengdu, Sichuan, is a key research institute directly under the Civil Aviation Administration of China, engaged in applied science and technology research and development, production, installation, and support of products, equipment, and systems, as well as drafting of industry technical standards, quality inspection and certification, and planning and design. Our institute primarily conducts design, research, development, and industrialization promotion of civil aviation information management systems, air traffic management systems, airport weak current systems, aviation logistics systems, aviation safety management systems, aviation chemical products, and agricultural and forestry aviation products. We also undertake technical testing of aviation chemical product airworthiness, flame retardancy of aircraft non-metallic materials, agricultural and forestry aviation spraying equipment, air traffic control automation systems, air traffic control radar systems, as well as aviation fuel airworthiness certification, and civil aviation energy conservation and emission reduction monitoring, providing technical support for the civil aviation industry. Over the past 50 years since its establishment, through arduous entrepreneurship and the strategy of revitalizing the institute through science and technology, we have gradually embarked on the path of integrated research, development, production, and sales. By applying new theories and technologies of modern science, we have developed a series of new achievements and products that meet the needs of both civil aviation modernization and industry development. We have won a total of 237 scientific and technological achievement awards, including 14 national awards, 93 provincial and ministerial awards, and 130 other awards. Our technologies in airport information system integration, automatic baggage sorting, surface movement guidance and control, RFID technology, air traffic control automation, aviation chemical application, airport weak current system design, and airworthiness testing are all at the leading level. Our scientific and technological achievements have been widely applied in more than one hundred units in the fields of civil aviation air traffic control, airports, and airlines, providing technical support services for numerous major construction projects and production operations, achieving significant economic and social benefits, and making important contributions to the construction and development of civil aviation. Our institute has established first-class civil aviation research bases for air traffic control, electronic information, and logistics, as well as laboratories for new air traffic control technology applications, aviation chemical airworthiness testing centers, agricultural and forestry aviation testing centers, and energy conservation and emission reduction monitoring centers. We have established post-doctoral stations with Chengdu High-tech Zone and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and have cultivated 17 technical experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council and 4 civil aviation academic leaders. Currently, among our active employees, master's degree holders account for 20%, and doctoral and post-doctoral degree holders account for 5%. We have hundreds of senior and mid-level professional technical personnel with rich industry experience, making us an important scientific and technological force in civil aviation. In recent years, we have successively undertaken key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, key projects of the National 863 Program, special projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and major special projects of the Civil Aviation Administration. Under the macro strategic guidance of implementing science and education revitalization and increasing scientific and technological investment in China's civil aviation, our institute has set the goal of building a first-class civil aviation and domestically advanced scientific and technological innovation base, and a leading civil aviation and domestically well-known high-tech enterprise. We will continue to take the modernization of applied science and technology in China's civil aviation as our mission, and strive to become stronger and innovate keenly under scientific development strategies. In the historical process of China's leap from a major civil aviation country to a powerful civil aviation country, our institute will provide more advanced technological achievements, more complete technical solutions, and better technical services for China's civil aviation, making new contributions to the growth and development of China's civil aviation.
